16 Things Every Military Girlfriend Knows To Be True
From a member: I'm dating someone who has PTSD. We have been together for almost seven months. He has been out of the Army for about five years or so, he toured in Iraq Afghanistan and Kuwait for a total of like 44 months he maxed out his time overseas His PTSD has progressed each time he went and it is progressively getting worse now that he is home.
He wants to be in the Army again and go back overseas but was told he can not so he decided to no longer serve since he can't go back overseas. Anyway, since I have a tendency to ramble as I try to get to my point I started researching PTSD when his anxiety attacks, mood swings and episodes worsened. I am trying to hold on to this relationship but he seems to be pushing me away.
He is distant and sometimes mean. He doesn't go to counseling anymore because its always a civilian therapist He says they don't know or understand what he went through because they were not there. He knows he needs help but won't get it. He has been drinking a lot and that makes it worse. Barrooms are a trigger but he is always in one.
He only gets out of the bed to go to the barroom. He has two daughters that live with him and he is an awesome dad when he is around but he is not around like he should be. His children's mother is also a trigger but there is not much I can do to prevent that trigger. We broke up last night and it was a bad break up I really care about him and would like to find a way to get him help. He has been to a mental hospital before so he knows just what to say and do to make sure he doesn't go back there although I am starting to believe he needs to go back for a long term.
He gets better then goes right back into this PTSD rut. I have never been to war nor the military so I can not pretend to understand his pain. I would not want to live in his head but I would if it would make him better. You can post this but please don't post my name because he will be mad that I'm talking about his business. Jump to. There are some specific rules about fraternizing in the Army , which has been updated in recent years to define what's acceptable and what isn't clear. The goal isn't to discourage soldiers from having any interpersonal relationships, or to prevent team-building among units, but to avoid unfair treatment and the appearance of unfair treatment between an officer or NCO and his subordinates. Part of the challenge of writing and understanding the Army's policy is that "fraternizing" is sometimes used to mean an inappropriate or prohibited relationship, when in fact, all three are different. Essentially the rules seek to prevent inappropriate relationships between higher-ranking personnel and their subordinates. Relationships of the same and opposite genders are prohibited if they fall into any of the following categories:. Such relationships don't have to be sexual in nature to be prohibited.
